World Environment Day today revolves around eliminating plastic waste and transitioning to a circular economy. Looks like we are cut out for the job! For example, check out our new foundation block, which is fully made of upcycled plastic. Mainstream construction globally causes: 10% of emissions. 30% of waste. 50% of resourse extraction.Easy Homes cause: Near 0% emissions (and even store a lot of carbon in its timber).Near 0% waste (circular building details). Near 0% resource extraction (only using regenerative materials - sustainable timber - and upcycled plastic). Easy Housing foundation blocks produced by Green Home Transformations (Gulu, Uganda). Research and innovation project funded by Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).Circular building details enable us to prefabricate, relocate and reuse. By using only screws and no glue or nails, our frames can be easily put together. But also relocated, reused, repurposed, etc. And using locally sourced regenerative building materials like sustainable sourced (FSC) timber, bamboo, biobased insulation - which is harvested within maximum sustainable yield - creating a regenerative materials as nature-based solutions towards a biobased economy. This creates value and demand for sustainable forestry, thereby pushing for a sustainable forest economy. #beatplasticpollution #upcycling #circulareconomy #biobased

Tips to "LIVE GREEN" to protect the environmentPART 2: Limit household waste and Plant more trees in the living environment1. Limit household wasteA huge amount of household waste is invading the Earth, causing many species to lose their natural habitat. One of the simplest things you can do to limit waste is to classify waste and follow the principle of "Reduce - Reuse - Recycle". Biodegradable products will be classified as organic waste and used as fertilizer. Recycling products that can be reused many times limits the use of canned foods and eliminates single-use plastic items.2. Plant more trees in the living environmentTrees are considered the "lungs" of the Earth. Trees absorb CO2 and release O2 necessary for human respiration. Living in a space with lots of green trees not only helps clean the air in the house, eliminates pollution caused by dust and cigarette smoke, but also helps people become more comfortable.#protecttheenvironment #Useelectricvehicles #Reduceplasticwaste #disposablewoodencutlery #greenliving #Limithouseholdwaste #Plantmoretreesinthelivingenvironment--------------------------------------------------KEGO Co., LtdMs. Ann KEGOWhatsapp: + 84 965 615 346Mail: sales3@kego.com.vnWebsite: kego.com.vnOffice: R.603, Kim Anh Building, Lane 78, Duy Tan Str., Cau Giay Dist., Hanoi, Vietnam Factory: Lot G1, Thanh Binh Industrial Park, Thanh Thinh Commune, Cho Moi District, Bac Kan Province, Vietnam

This #InternationalWomensDay, I am honoured to share six women-founded projects working to save the planet. Some of these we at Going Green Media have had the pleasure of visiting and working directly with, and others we hope to see first-hand one day soon! These innovations are not only revolutionising their respective fields, but are also offering male-dominated industries new perspectives and solutions to various issues our planet is facing. These solutions include: 6. Living Seawalls 🌊These 3D Printed living seawalls were developed by a team of Australian researchers. They are attached to existing sea defences to help marine life thrive! Melanie Bishop Katherine Dafforn Mariana Mayer Pinto Aria Lee 5. Toucan Rescue Ranch 🦜This organisation, founded by Leslie Howle is rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing animals back into their natural habitats in Costa Rica. They are also working tirelessly to educate locals and tourists about the importance of conservation. 4. Recycled Plastic Bricks Gjenge_Makers 🧱These recycled plastic bricks are reducing plastic pollution in Kenya. Nzambi Matee created these bricks that are stronger than concrete and are a lightweight and low-cost building material.3. Biodegradable sanitary products 🩸These biodegradable sanitary products are made from banana harvest waste. Rafaella de Bona Gonçalves is tackling widespread period poverty for disadvantaged groups in Brazil.2. Palm Oil Alternative by C16 Biosciences 🌴This is a truly sustainable alternative to palm oil, made using yeast! Palm oil production is destroying rainforests around the world. Shara Ticku and her team have developed a solution that can be grown in tanks and scaled without harming vital ecosystems. 1. Mukuru Clean Stoves 🔥Mukuru Clean Stoves repurpose locally sourced waste metal to manufacture safer and more efficient cookstoves for low-income families across Africa. Developed by Charlot Magayi, these stoves are helping to massively reduce household air pollution and save lives.Thank you for this powerful work, and your resilience! 🙌

Did you know 💭 ‘high-income countries’ produce 10 times more plastic per capita than countries in lower income categories. However, the countries that produce less are the ones affected most by high levels of #plasticpollution. There are approximately 50,000 people living on the beautiful #Lamu archipelago (Northern coast of #Kenya). Plastic waste makes up 78% of total waste in Lamu, with plastic pollution regularly reaching the coast, being caught in mangroves, and littering the community. The FlipFlopi Project have been spearheading an innovative solution to address plastic pollution in Lamu, and across the #EastAfrican coast:👉🏾 They turn plastic waste into wood-like timber, which us used to create traditional value add products, such as Dhow sailing boats. All of this is done through a circular economy approach, where the solution is community led by those most affected by the plastic pollution problem. 👏🏾 Check out their work on www.theflipflopi.com. Thank you Dipesh Pabari, and the FlipFlopi team for the kind words and all the great work you are doing.#plasticpollution #plasticwaste #coastal #wastemanagement #innovation #development #sdgs #fundraising #impact #blendedfinance

[Green Plantation] Volunteers made eco bricks to be used at green site. Egis India along with the NGO partner, Hara Jeevan initiated the drive. Around 25 volunteers from various corporates participated in the drive. An ecobrick is a plastic bottle densely packed with used plastic to create a reusable building block that achieves plastic sequestration. Eco bricks can be used to produce various items, including furniture, garden walls and other structures where plantation happens. Eco bricks are produced primarily as a means of managing consumed plastic by sequestering it and containing it safely, by terminally reducing the net surface area of the packed plastic to effectively secure the plastic from degrading into toxins and microplastics.Discarded bottles were filled with plastic wrappers, soil, waste papers etc. Waste materials are used to create platforms and these eco bricks will be utilized to make a small platform in the green belt for aesthetic purposes as well as to be used for crawlers.More such awareness campaigns are planned with school & college students, Corporates and other volunteers. #impactthefuture #climateemergency #climatechange #greenwarriors Egis | Egis in the Middle East | Egis en France | Egis Foundation | Martine Jauroyon | Hubert Kieken | Isabelle Mayrand | Sabine Mendy | ROMAIN GAUVRIT | Bhaskar Majumdar | Saurabh Sainger| WME | Charlotte Grouset | Dana Rafeh

Plastic pollution knows no bounds, infiltrating even the most remote corners of our planet. Microplastics, the silent menace born from larger plastic degradation, are quietly invading the Himalayan mountains. Nestled within glacial deposits, these microplastics pose a significant threat as they seep into major river systems like the Indus, Ganges, and Brahmaputra, leading to widespread soil/water pollution as well as the endangerment of downstream communities.🚨But amidst these challenges, there is hope. Solutions that offer a path forward. And GreenPlast practices all of these!-Adequate resource allocation and infrastructure development are crucial. GreenPlast supports resource allocation by providing a PVA based sustainable alternative to traditional plastics, reducing environmental impact.-Public engagement and education play a vital role as well. GreenPlast promotes public participation by encouraging the adoption of eco-friendly practices and raising awareness about plastic pollution.-Convergence of schemes like Swachh Bharat Mission and corporate social responsibility funds can bolster resources for waste management infrastructure. GreenPlast aligns with these initiatives, contributing to the conservation of our environment and supporting efforts to combat plastic pollution in the Himalayan region.Together, let's work towards a cleaner, greener future for the Himalayan states and beyond! 🌿Read more at: https://lnkd.in/gdhr8z8D#PlasticPollution #GreenPlast #SustainabilitySolutions #PVA

Knowledge Pills Article on week 1, Day 1 of ECO30 2.0 SLC Refuse, Reduce and ReuseDuring this ECO30 Sustainable Campaign we are;Promoting refuse by reducing waste which involves encouraging people to refuse unnecessary items or packaging, thus reducing overall waste. Here are some strategies:1. Education and Awareness: Raise awareness about the environmental impact of waste and the benefits of refusing unnecessary items. Provide information on alternatives and their benefits.2. Reusable Products: Encourage the use of reusable products such as water bottles, coffee cups, shopping bags, and containers to reduce the need for single-use items.3. Say No to Plastic: Encourage people to refuse single-use plastics like straws, utensils, and plastic bags. Offer alternatives such as reusable or compostable options.4. Minimalist Lifestyle: Promote a minimalist lifestyle where people focus on buying only what they need and avoiding unnecessary purchases to reduce waste.5. Bulk Buying: Encourage bulk buying to reduce packaging waste. Buying in bulk can also save money in the long run.6. Community Initiatives: Organize community clean-up events, waste reduction challenges, or zero-waste workshops to engage and educate people.7. Support Legislation: Advocate for policies and regulations that promote waste reduction, such as bans on single-use plastics or incentives for businesses to reduce packaging.8. Composting: Encourage composting of organic waste to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills.9. Collaboration with Businesses: Work with local businesses to promote sustainable practices such as offering discounts for customers who bring their own containers or implementing packaging-free options.10. Lead by Example: Practice refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle in your own life and share your experiences and tips with others to inspire change. By (Mrs) Ruby N.
